I think President Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech could well be the greatest political speech in 200 years — if he gets angry, specific, and pointed.

Consider what crimes he could legitimately accuse the Republicans of perpetrating on this nation in the last two years. If he frames it correctly, he can eviscerate the Republican Party. I know he has it in him to reach impressive heights of rhetoric; imagine that combined with the power of genuine and legitimate righteous indignation. He could destroy them for their obstruction and their absurdity. He could do enough damage to cause a split, if he played it just right (although I think this is unlikely).

I would hope to see him in “street fighter” mode when the Convention convenes. I think many of we liberals are waiting for that to emerge from him, considering the utter absurdities perpetrated by the Republican Party.

I look forward to it.

Don’t let me down, Mr. President.
